SPACE / OBJECT / LIGHT / BODY / SOUND
I AM CURIOUS ABOUT THE MOMENT AN OBJECT REVEALS THAT IT CAN BE MORE THAN ONE THING.
Joseph Higgins is an interior and product designer working at the intersection of space, object, material and use. Across more than two decades, he has moved from concept through fabrication and installation - experience that now informs ARCHIVAL//LIGHT, the multidisciplinary studio he founded to create quietly unfamiliar objects with clear purpose.
JOSEPH HIGGINS
CHICAGO / 2026

Higgins has designed luxury interiors, kitchens, cabinetry and bespoke millwork; translated complex ideas into buildable systems; and coordinated architects, fabricators, vendors and clients from early concept through execution.
That breadth gives him both the eye to define a distinctive object and the discipline to carry it toward production.

Each reference is carried forward as a question: what can light do, what must a material say, how can a form transform?
Emotion / experiment / wonder
Rigor / clarity / restraint
Structure / proportion / reduction
Utility / warmth / modern life
Tension / rhythm / order
Silhouette / transformation / emotion
At ARCHIVAL//LIGHT, Higgins works across product, apparel, light and carrying systems. Vessel, sphere, orbit, concealed technology and controlled transformation form a coherent language rather than a catalog of unrelated things.
His parallel work as the musician FUTURE//EYES extends the same practice into sound: structure, atmosphere, tension and release.
